Concrete tile roofing is generally considered a ‘lifetime’ roof, and is usually used on custom built homes. A home must be structurally built to withstand the weight of approximately 1,200 pounds per square. There is a lighter weight concrete tile that is often used for re-roofing a home. This material does not require the home to have special structuring to withstand heavier weights like concrete tile.

Like concrete tile roofing, the home must be structurally capable of handing the weight of approximately 1,200 pounds per square. This product is made of engineered polymer, blended with fire retardant and UV stabilizers. Also like concrete tile, there is a lighter weight slate shingle that can be used for re-roofing a home.

Synthetic slate is not nearly as heavy as real slate, and it does not require any special bracing like real slate.
